SOUTH ZONE JUNIOR GOLF

The Program is run under the aegis of THE INDIAN GOLF UNION and is supported by;

The Karnataka Golf Association (KGA), Bangalore (contributes Rs.5 lakhs per year starting 2006).

All IGU Affiliated Clubs in the South Zone

Mr.Dilip Thomas and Mr.KN Shanth Kumar, IGU Council Members, provide the guidance.

OBJECTIVE: To produce the CHAMPIONS of the FUTURE

STRATEGY

Encourage all Clubs to start Junior Golf Programs (JGP) and help them monitor their programs

Provide education and training inputs to the Coaches

Encourage Clubs to conduct monthly junior tournaments to identify talent

Provide additional coaching inputs to the talent emerging from the Clubs Junior Programs

Create a SZ Tournament Circuit as a “stepping stone” to the IGU Categorised Tour

IGU KGA JDP

Junior Development Program Started in 2000.

Motivate & helps Clubs start “grass root” JGPs.

Provide “Tailor Made” Programs to suit each Clubs unique requirements.

Provide help & guidance to JGPs.

Interaction with Coaches to assess & develop talent.

Education and Training Inputs to Coaches.

South Zone Tournament Circuit (SZTC)

The SZTC is a series of 2 day Junior Tournaments in South India open to boys and girls resident in India. Terms & Conduct of the tournaments as per IGU norms.

An arena to develop competitive skills and conduct peer evaluation.

A stepping stone to the IGU Categorised Tour.

The stage to spot talent and evaluate competitive skills.

A Merit List to base the selection of players to IGU Excellence Coaching Camps.

IGU KGA Excellence Coaching Camps (ECC)

First IGU Subsidized Camp held in 2002.

2003 till date: 2 Camps held every year.

Slots for about 15 Juniors per camp.

1 week Residential Camp.

Includes fundamentals, individual analysis, course management, rules, fitness, nutrition etc.

IGU KGA Coaches Seminars

First held 2006.

Encourages a common approach to teaching.

Special emphasis on practical aspects and coaching of juniors.

Interact with Coaches to join and enhance the SZ JDP.

Create a cohesive network of Teachers working towards the common goal of producing the Champions of the Future.
